Benefits of Membership
Why You Should Join Us
Communicators Connection is a supportive community of self-employed communications professionals. We provide members with opportunities for personal and professional development and a platform to share wisdom among peers. We also provide a “virtual water cooler” that keeps people connected and helps fight the isolation you can sometimes experience working solo.
In addition to valuable and regular networking opportunities, you will benefit from professional development sessions, informative and educational presentations, and some purely social events. They are offered through a mix of lunch meetings and evening events at various locations in and Peel. There is no charge for members except for lunch meetings, which are subsidized by the association and, therefore, very inexpensive. Not only will you make friends with like-minded, self-employed communications professionals, you may also want to collaborate with members on specific client projects.
From social media specialists and videographers to writers and graphic designers, they are all here. All facets of communications are represented through our members. Joining Communicators Connection is like belonging to a supportive and nurturing family where everyone truly cares. In our case, we are a family of professional communicators.
Free or discounted rates to Communicators Connection events
The Communicators Connection program year runs from September through June, at various locations in Halton and Peel. Many meetings feature guest speakers, or provide a forum for members to discuss and share their own expertise on a given topic. At other events, the focus is strictly social, providing a platform for friendly talk over dinner and a drink – something that often eludes those of us working from a small-office/home-office environment.
Access to a community of like-minded professionals
Besides offering regular member meetings and informal discussion groups, Communicators Connection encourages members to communicate and share specific expertise with each other.
The Communicators Connection email discussion group offers quick access to a wealth of information and a forum to ask questions or share expertise. Group or individual help is never more than an email away. You will also receive our monthly newsletter, Homework.
Presence on the Communicators Connection website
Full members of Communicators Connection are given a public profile page on the association website to promote themselves and their work. Members also have the opportunity to publish articles and writings about their particular expertise, along with news and opinion related to the communications profession. Members may also contribute a portfolio of works for public display and discussion.
